Title:
Barry Levinson's Baltimore Saga (4-Disc Set)
|
| Films:
Avalon, Liberty Heights, Diner, Tin
Men |
| Created:
1/22/04 |
| I
came up with this case to house the four films Barry Levinson
made that took place in Baltimore, primarily in the 1950's.
It's the only way to collect the four films in a "box
set," as they are culled from different studios: Avalon
is a Columbia-TriStar title, Tin Men is from Touchstone,
and Liberty Heights and Diner came from
Warner Bros. |

Title:
Milton Chadwick Waters Firm Brochure |
| Film:
Devil's Advocate |
| Created:
5/25/04 |
|
One
of several covers I made to replace the cardboard "Snapper"
cases used by Warner Bros., this cover for Devil's Advocate
takes the form of a brochure promoting the diabolical law
firm from the film, Milton Chadwick Waters. Take a close look
at the shadow behind "Milton Chadwick" for the DVD's
real title. I did a similar trick on the back; look closely.
If
the sculpture on the cover looks familiar, that's because
it's Ex Nihilo by Frederick Hart. He successfully
sued the studio for using a sculpture he considered to be
too similar to his own in the film without his permission.
I await a call from his lawyers. |

Hey... Stop Stabbing Me! |
| Film:
Hey... Stop Stabbing Me! |
| Created:
8/9/04 |
|
My
very first commissioned DVD cover. When Sub Rosa released
the DVD in September of 2003, they went with a cover
that wasn't exactly representative of the film; it made the
movie out to be some sort of Scream parody. To remedy
this misconception, the director, Worm Miller, asked me to
use an alternative poster designed by Sean Hall as the new
DVD cover. It was then up to me to create the spine and back,
essentially from scratch, retaining only the synopsis text
from the original cover. |

Title:
Legend "Ultimate Edition"
(2-Disc set) |
| Film:
Legend |
| Created:
6/14/02 |
|
My
very first DVD cover. This was to replace the ill-conceived
clear plastic Digipack case the DVD came in. For the front
cover, I used the US poster art, and for the back, I actually
hand-typed the synopsis text word-for-word from the UE's back.
Special
mention must go to Matt Devillier of DVDCoverArt.com, without
whose contribution this cover would not have come out as well
as it has. |

Title:
Jim Henson's Muppet Movie Trilogy (The Rainbow Collection)
(3-disc set) |
| Films:
The Muppet Movie, The Great Muppet Caper,
The Muppets Take Manhattan |
| Created:
4/12/04 |
|
Like
the Baltimore Saga, this cover came out of an impulse to collect
a series of films together when the studio didn't make them
part of a box set. These are the three Muppet movies made
during Jim Henson's lifetime, which is why I have the "Legacy
Edition" banner on the top. |

Title:
The Polyphonic Spree DVD |
| Contains:
"Soldier Girl" Music Video, Audio of UK Single Remix,
Zongamin Remix, Stereolab Remix |
| Created:
4/7/04 |
|
This
DVD isn't readily available at retail in the U.S. It's encoded
for all regions, but it's in the PAL format, not viewable
on most American TVs or DVD players. It includes a delightful
video for the Spree's single "Soldier Girl." This
DVD is available for purchase at Amazon.co.uk.
Adapted
primarily from the square jewel case cover for the DVD, this
cover also features colorful screen captures from the video
on the back. |

Title:
Superman: The Two-Part Epic
(2-Disc set) |
| Films:
Superman: The Movie, Superman II |
| Created:
2/25/04 |
|
This
one was a labor of love. I only own the first two--the only
two--Superman films on DVD, and I was tired of looking at
their flimsy cardboard cases. I decided to incorporate them
into one package, as that is how they were originally planned,
as one big epic. Like with The Iron Giant, until
they come out with a new SE of Superman II, this
is how I choose to package it. |
